SUMMER CAMP: FAQs
Families and Households may stay in touch with their camper(s) through handwritten letters. We strongly encourage you to write these ahead of time and drop them off at the registration table. This ensures that your camper will receive them in a timely manner throughout the week. Mailing letters and postcards from home is also acceptable, but the letters often arrive after the campers have left their session. Please use the following format when address letters to your camper(s):
Camper Name
Session #
PO Box 440
Camp Meeker CA, 95419
If you would like to send your campers with snacks please be sure to send enough for everyone in their cabin. If there is not enough for everyone to share, our staff will confiscate it and return it at the end of the week. Please know that we do provide a snack everyday so sending them with snacks is not required.
Camper Agreement:
“I want to be a camper at St. Dorothy’s Rest. I agree to follow the camp rules, including being respectful and friendly to other campers and staff. I agree to do my best to make this a good experience for myself and for other people by using positive language and actions. If problems arise, I will work to solve them by talking to the other person or people and my counselors. I understand that bullying, swearing, and excluding other campers from the group is inappropriate behavior at camp.”

St. Dorothy’s Rest utilizes the “Challenge by Choice” philosophy to encourage and enable campers to step outside of their comfort zones and explore beyond the familiar. In this camper-centered model, campers choose their level of participation in camp activities. Campers also get to selecting their activities for Act 1, Act 2, and Act 3. This model empowers campers to try new things and exercise ownership over how they spend their time at camp. This philosophy permeates all of our programming, from cabin life to daily activities. Creating space for kids to advocate for themselves.
All St. Dorothy’s Rest Summer camp activities are designated to teach new skills and to strengthen old ones, to foster exploration, and to provide opportunity for healthy play. At Camp, the emphasis is not just on action, but also on interaction: Programs offered include aquatics, nature, arts, land sports, and team building activities.
